The Practice has formed an integrated nursing team. It is hoped that this will maximise the use of all the nurses’ skills and will ensure that the patients receive the best possible care in the most appropriate place for their condition.

Senior Practice Nurse

• Sister Mary Winifred Gailes BA, SRN Dip ATC
  Sister Mary Winifred Gailes is our senior Practice Nurse and has overall responsibility for developing the nursing team. Mary started to work with the practice in 1990. Mary will be undertaking a prescribing course which will enable her to prescribe certain medications to patients she treats for Smoking Cessation. Mary specialises in Diabetes, COPD, Asthma and IHD. She also runs a travel, smear and smoking cessation clinics.

Practice Nurse

• Mary Stobart RGN
  Mary joined the Practice in 2003. She has developed her skills in the prevention of coronary heart disease, smoking cessation and diabetes. We are looking for Mary to undertake further training in administering travel vaccines and reviewing COPD and asthma patients.

Clinical Receptionist

• Julie Carruthers
  Julie joined the Practice as a Medical Receptionist in 2004 and in 2007 became our Clinical Receptionist. She is currently taking BPs, providing new patient health checks, diabetic reviews and is a fully qualified phlebotomist. Julie is currently undertaking training to become a Health Care Assistant at the surgery.
